Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information ClickTools ("we", "us", "our") — the service operating at clicktools.app and its subdomains — handles when you visit or use our tools, and the principles behind those decisions. We have deliberately designed our architecture so that the honest summary fits in one sentence: your files and data are processed inside your own browser and are never transmitted to, stored on, or retained by our servers.

1. Information we do not collect

The core ClickTools functionality is executed entirely client-side, using JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your browser. This means that when you compress an image, generate a QR code, validate JSON, convert units or hash and sign a document:

  • Your files are not uploaded to us — they are read from your device into your browser's memory and written back by your browser.
  • The content you process is never stored on our infrastructure; there is no server-side session, database record or cache associated with your work.
  • We do not require accounts, so we hold no names, email addresses, passwords or payment details in connection with tool usage.
  • We do not build advertising profiles about you, and we do not sell personal information.

2. Information processed automatically

Like virtually all websites, our static hosting provider's infrastructure records standard technical request logs for security and abuse prevention. These logs may include your IP address, browser user-agent string, requested URL, referral source, and timestamps. They are transient operational records — they are not merged with any profile about you (we hold none), and they are retained only for a short security window before automatic deletion. Because the site is fully static, there is no application server logging your activity.

3. Local storage

We use a single localStorage key (ct-theme) to remember whether you chose the light or dark interface theme. This preference is stored in your browser on your device, is never transmitted to us, and can be erased at any time by clearing your browser's site data. We do not use localStorage for tracking, fingerprinting, or any purpose other than the theme preference.

4. Cookies and advertising

The ClickTools site itself sets no cookies. If and when we display third-party advertising (for example, Google AdSense), the advertising vendor may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Where applicable, that usage is governed by the vendor's own policies — see our Cookie Policy for the full detail, including how Google uses advertising cookies and how you can opt out via Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info. Third-party ad vendors are prohibited by their own contracts and policies from associating such cookies with personally identifiable information unless you have consented to it.

5. Third-party links and embeds

Our guides link to external resources (standards bodies, vendor documentation) for reference. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites; we encourage you to review their policies. We do not embed third-party social widgets or tracking pixels in our pages.

6. Legal bases (GDPR)

For visitors from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom: our processing of technical request logs rests on legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a secure, abuse-resistant website. Our storage of your theme preference rests on your consent or on strict necessity for a functionality you requested. Because user content never reaches us, we act as neither controller nor processor of it.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws), you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection regarding personal data. Since we do not maintain user databases, the practical scope of data we could act on is limited to the transient security logs described in section 2. To exercise any right, contact privacy@clicktools.app and we will respond within the statutory period. California residents will not be discriminated against for exercising their rights.

8. Children's privacy

ClickTools is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because our tools process data locally, no child's information reaches us through tool usage.

9. Data security

The entire site is served over HTTPS. Our strongest security control, however, is architectural: the absence of a user-data repository removes the primary target of most attacks. Please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet is perfectly secure, and you remain responsible for the security of your own device and browser.

10. International transfers

Our hosting and CDN may process technical logs in multiple countries. Because we do not transfer user content anywhere, the content you process is not subject to international transfers at all.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or the law. Material changes will be signalled by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and — for significant changes — by a notice on the homepage.
